2 Hour Surfing Lesson (Group or Private)
👥 Group Surf Lesson – 2 Hour Beginner Class:
This 2 hour introductory lesson focuses on giving the beginner surfer an easy approach focused on safety, fundamentals and ocean awareness. Goofy Foot’s lessons are based on easily learned instructions for paddling, navigating the surf zone, timing and catching waves, four fundamental surf stances, board maneuvering, stopping and even wiping out. Students will be provided patient professional instruction and excellent equipment.
Beginner group lessons are available to virtually everyone and there are very few limitations when considering the age (must be 9 years of age or older to join a group lesson, otherwise a private lesson is required). Prior ocean experience is not necessary. Group classes are small in size, no more than 5 students per instructor.

Private lessons offer students the perfect opportunity to take advantage of the undivided attention from one of our professional surfing instructors. Instruction is focused with an aim to provide ideal learning conditions for aspiring individuals. A private lesson will really help you take your surfing to the next level, plus it will do wonders to increase your wave count!

"Guardrails" Surf Spot, HWY 30 (mile marker 19), Lahaina, HI 96761 View Map
Guardrails is a gravel/dirt parking lot, 400 feet south of Puamana Beach Park, off of HWY 30, at Mile Marker 19. Parking is roadside parking. Look for and meet by the lone tree near the cement road barriers. You will see staff with boards near the tree.
Please note:
There is no cell phone service in this area, so please confirm the location prior to the time of your lesson. Please also complete your electronic liability waiver prior to leaving/arriving to your lesson due to no cell service at the surf spot. The electronic waiver will be in your confirmation email that you will receive after booking your lesson.

Special Notes
This beach park offers picnic tables, barbecue pits and a couple porta potties for public use.
There are no public restrooms available at this location other than the porta potties, and there is no running water. Water refill stations for drinking water are not available at this beach.
We recommend that you bring water and snacks/lunch. It is a beautiful beach to relax and swim after your lesson.

What is the difference between a group and private surfing lesson?
Group lessons are limited to no more than five students per instructor and are intended for beginners age 9 and older. Private lessons provide more individualized coaching, can accommodate children under 9 and are also suitable for students who want to improve their existing surfing skills.
Do I need previous ocean or surfing experience?
No previous surfing or ocean experience is required. The instructor covers paddling, surf-zone safety, wave timing, standing positions, board control, stopping and how to handle a wipeout before helping students practice in the water.
What should I know before driving to the meeting location?
The lesson meets at the Guardrails surf spot near mile marker 19 on Highway 30, where cell phone service is unavailable. Review the directions and complete the electronic waiver before leaving, then arrive 30 minutes early and look for the instructors with surfboards near the lone tree and concrete barriers.
